Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris is an American politician and attorney who served as the 49th Vice President of the United States from January 20, 2021, to January 20, 2025. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to her role as vice president, Harris served as a United States Senator from California from 2017 to 2021. She was the first woman, first African American woman, and first Asian American woman to hold the office of Vice President in U.S. history.

Before her career in politics, Kamala Harris worked as a prosecutor and attorney. She served as the District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 and later as the Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017. During her tenure as attorney general, she focused on issues such as criminal justice reform, reducing recidivism, and supporting progressive policies.

Harris ran for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2020 election but suspended her campaign in December 2019. She was later chosen as the running mate for Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, and they went on to win the election.

As Vice President, Kamala Harris played a role in the Biden administration's policy initiatives, including addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting the American Jobs Plan, and working on issues such as racial equity, voting rights, and immigration reform.
